Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of Shape, the desktop companion for Windows, and this website. Shape is made by X Shape dev ("we", "us"). By installing or using Shape you agree to them. If you got Shape from the Microsoft Store, the Store's own terms also apply.
1. Using Shape
Shape is free for personal and work use. You may install it on any PC you use. Please don't copy, resell, or modify and redistribute the app, or try to get around its security, account rules or update signing.
2. Your account
An account is optional. If you make one, give accurate details and keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend accounts that are used to abuse the service or other people. You can stop using Shape or ask us to delete your account at any time.
3. Your content and privacy
Your tasks, memories, chats and files are yours, and they stay on your PC. How we handle the little data we do collect is explained in the Privacy Policy.
4. Files
When you let Shape "eat" a file, the file goes to the Windows Recycle Bin, and you can restore it with Undo or from the Recycle Bin. Shape doesn't permanently delete files, but please keep backups of anything important.
5. AI chat and other services
AI chat uses your own Anthropic (Claude) or Google (Gemini) API key. You're responsible for that key, any costs on your provider account, and following that provider's terms and usage policies. AI replies are generated automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate. Check anything important yourself, and don't rely on Shape for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
Google Calendar, calendar links, Windows speech recognition and GitHub are provided by other companies under their own terms. We're not responsible for them.
6. Reminders
Shape tries hard to remind you on time, but reminders can be missed if your PC is off, asleep or busy, or if Shape isn't running. Don't use Shape as your only reminder for anything critical, such as medication.
7. Updates and changes
We may update Shape to fix problems or add, change or remove features, including beta features such as Google Calendar, which is invite-only and may close. The website version updates itself (you can turn that off in Settings → About); the Microsoft Store version is updated by the Store.
8. No warranty
Shape is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will be error-free or always available.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, X Shape dev isn't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of Shape. Because Shape is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to USD 10. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll also tell you in the app. If you keep using Shape after a change, the new terms apply.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections where you live.
